New book covers
My designer friend and I are in the process of creating new covers for the books of my Family Portrait series. Here are some preliminary samples of the first two books. There will be minor changes (such as my name needs to be a little bigger) but I'm really excited about them.

Okay, here are new versions with the larger name:
Christa Polkinhorn, originally from Switzerland, lives and works as writer and translator in the Los Angeles area, California. She divides her time between the United States and Switzerland and has strong ties to both countries. She is the author of five novels and a collection of poems. Her travels and her interest in foreign cultures inform her work and her novels take place in several countries. Aside from writing and traveling, she is an avid reader and a lover of the arts, dark chocolate, and red wine.

Hi Christa- I think they look great. I'm sure it's difficult to decide on the cover, but you guys did really well. I would pick it up off the shelf and look at it.

Designing covers is one of the most difficult parts of creating a book (aside from writing it, of course) and readers have different tastes. I myself like simple designs on books. Too much detail doesn't show up in those postage stamp images at Amazon and other online bookstores.
